Action from John Shaw and local residents helped change developer plans for the site to the right of the Worting Road entrance of Morrisons supermarket.
Original plans included a restaurant, but this was removed following last year’s public meeting. Plans approved at the Council’s November planning committee also included changes to reduce the impact of delivery noise on local homes.
Local campaigners John Shaw and Doris Jones have reacted with concern to news that the development of the Eli Lilly site North of the town centre could mean the BCOT site falling into the hands of a private developer.
Local press reports have told of a land swap if the Lilly development goes ahead with the developer providing a new site for the college but gaining the current Worting Road site.
John and Doris are requesting urgent meetings with the developer and the Borough Council to try to make sure that local residents’ voices are heard if the swap goes ahead.
